GeoMaps Recon ("the App", "we", "us") is a geography game published by Ctrl Spike. This policy explains what data the App processes and your choices. We do not require an account and we do not ask you for your name, email, or any personal profile.
Data stored on your device
The App saves the following locally on your device only (browser/local storage):
Game progress, scores, medals and "mastery" stats
Preferences (language, graphics quality, handedness, learning mode)
Premium / ad-free entitlement flag
This data never leaves your device, is not sent to our servers (we operate none for gameplay), and is removed when you use "Reset progress" or uninstall the App.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version displays ads through Google AdMob (Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC). To serve ads, Google may collect and process:
Advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iOS)
IP address, device type, OS version, coarse location derived from IP
Ad interaction data (views, clicks)
Ads can be personalized or non-personalized depending on your consent (see §4). Google acts as an independent controller for this data. See Google's policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543
We use Google test ad units during development; production ad units are used in published builds.
In-app purchase
The optional Premium upgrade (one-time purchase) is processed entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play. We never receive or store your payment details. Refunds and billing are handled by the respective store.
Your consent and choices
European Economic Area / UK / Switzerland: before showing personalized ads we display Google's consent message (UMP). You can choose personalized or non-personalized ads, and change your choice later from the consent option in the App.
iOS (App Tracking Transparency): iOS asks for your permission before the App can use your advertising identifier for tracking. If you decline, you still get ads, but non-personalized ones.
Remove ads: the Premium purchase disables all advertising.
Device controls: you can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings at any time.
Children
The App is not directed to children under the age required by your local law (13 in the US, up to 16 in parts of the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If ad consent indicates a user below the age of consent, only non-personalized ads are requested.
Data retention
We do not hold a server-side copy of your data. On-device data persists until you reset progress or uninstall. Advertising data retention is governed by Google's policy.
Your rights (GDPR)
Because we do not maintain personal data on our side, most data is under your direct control (reset in-app, device ad-ID controls, store account). For requests regarding ad data, contact Google. For any other question or to exercise access/erasure rights, contact us below.
Changes
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date will change accordingly.
